Proposed Reforms to Improve Political Science in Israel

Proposed reform to improve Political Science in Israel depends on a perception of the advantages and the disadvantages, on the constraints of Israel reality, and on a general reform in the university framework throughout Israel. This was considered the most difficult limitation of all, until the process of decentralization began and which is now taking place increasingly in Israeli higher education

The following are seven proposed reforms : ■ Setting up separate departments ■ Greater selectivity in the conditions for acceptance into departmental studies. ■ Creation of employment possibilities for students within the departmental framework. ■ Focusing on the students' development of skills towards a future career. ■ A change in teaching and research methods ■ More involvement of students in issues of political science. ■ Making the content of political science more Israeli, including the language of research and publication..

These reforms must be expressed by emphasizing the Jewish political heritage, by research into Zionism, by understanding the diverse elements of Israeli society, by reforms in the political system, in legal and administrative institutions.
