Social Justice Project How can you promote “justice for all”?

What is social justice? Social justice is defined as "... promoting a just society by challenging injustice and valuing diversity."

In conditions of social justice, people are... "not discriminated against, nor their welfare and well-being constrained or prejudiced on the basis of gender, sexuality, religion, political affiliations, age, race, belief, disability, location, social class, socioeconomic circumstances, or other characteristic of background or group membership" (Toowoomba Catholic Education, 2006).

What social justice issues exist in the world? Access to food, clean water and shelter Access to decent healthcare Income inequality (between world employees/men and women) Environmental Justice

More social justice issues Minority Rights (women, racial/ethnic groups, the elderly, children, etc.) Access to education Access to technology Human Trafficking AND SO MUCH MORE

Who should I use for my audience?? Think about people in positions of power/ authority: Leaders of countries Congresspeople Business Owners and CEOS Philanthropists (people with $$ who support charities) …..and many, many more...

What am I supposed to do? (16)Students write persuasive texts to influence the attitudes or actions of a specific audience on specific issues. Students are expected to write an argumentative essay (e.g., evaluative essays, proposals) to the appropriate audience…

What if I don’t want to write a letter?

How am I going to be graded? I will distribute a rubric to you in terms of the requirements. Is your paper persuasive? Does it have an appropriate tone/diction for the audience? Are spelling, grammar, and capitalization being used properly? Did you use 3 or more rhetorical devices? Neatness and handwriting MATTER Then you get an A! IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO READ, UNDERSTAND, AND FOLLOW THE RUBRIC!

Where do I start? Recommended Apps 1. What cause, or injustice, do I want to address in my presentation? 2. What am I trying to persuade my audience of? 3. Who is the audience I am trying to reach and how will that affect my writing? 1. Google Drive -keep all your online files in one place 2. Google Slides- Powerpoint for google 3.
