Adapted education in Slovakia Legislative term: Law n.317/2009 about pedagogical employee and special employee Ordinance n.445/2009 about continual education, credits and certificate of pedagogical employee and special employee Law n.596/2003 statute-book about state administration in education and school autonomy Directive n.19/2009-R from 20 th October,2009 which is published undetailed programme of adapted education

Law n.317/2009 Pedagogical employee is compulsory completes adapted education after entering a job, employee obtains professional competences, which allow him independently runs a pedagogical occupation Pedagogical employee has to successfully finish adapted education at the latest two years from creation of employment Pedagogical employee completes an adapted education in school when he works

Headmaster is responsible for: Elaboration of adapted education programme (under the framework drawn up by the Ministry ) Giving the name of „leading teacher“ Elaboration of directive about realization of adapted education at a particular school

Leading teacher has at least 5 years experience (usually more) and is a teacher with the first attestation/certificate, has the same certification during the leadership leading teacher receives salary increased of 6% is responsible for developing and implementing of individual education plan of adaptation.

Directive contains: Aim of adapted education Personnel security (leading teacher, an examining board : (headmaster, deputy headmistress and leading teacher ) form completion (final interview before the board and open lesson) documentation of the adapted education (individual plan)

Practical solution in school immediately after the adoption of teacher, who starts the first employment, or from school, where he finished unsuccessfully adopted study, headmistress proceeds with the directive and its annexes Leading teacher develops an individual plan of adapted education

Individual plan includes generally binding applicable regulations in education, working and organizational rules, school rules School educational programme pedagogical documentation preparation and direction of the lesson

Individual plan is distributed over one school year includes: 20 hours study of internal documents 5 hours listening lessons 5 hours inspections 1 final open lesson before an examining board.

Completion Elaboration of final report of leading teacher, which recommends to the beginning teacher proceed to implementation of open lesson Open lesson- before headmistress, deputy headmistress and leading teacher Evaluation of open lesson Final interview

Conclusion Beginning teacher is placed among the so-called individual teachers in career positions Beginning teacher is placed to a higher grade (previously beginning teacher was classified as unqualified teacher.
