Comenius

How does the project work ?

Who works? Who receives tuoring?

The Comenius project includes 19 students who give a sort of private course to the tutees. After the tutoring activity the tutees can play an educational game such as : Trivial Comenius. It is a reward after hard work.

When do the tutoring activities take place?

The tutees and the students meet after the courses on Wednesday. They eat sandwiches together. It creates bonds between them. After lunch, they use an empty classroom and start working in small groups.

How does tutoring work?

First the tutors ask the tutors what the problem is. If it’s a comprehension problem, then the tutors explain again with their method, in another way until the tutees understand. If it’s a memorization problem, they do some little exercises to test their memory (oral memory, written memory, spatial memory, … ). Then the tutees are taught how to study and are explained how to learn efficiently.

Generally the tutees dare talk about their problem because they’re young. Sometimes they are also told how to organize their work at home and how to make a schedule that allows them to combine hobbies and family life.

Most of the time the tutees improve after a few courses because they feel encouraged.

Once upon a time there was… Is a popular game among the tutees!

The aim : To tell a story in the native language (French) which respects a logical way. It’s a creative activity that helps to develop memory, imagination and the use of the native language.

The rules : We play this game with minimum 4 players. Each player takes cards of characters, places, events and objects. He uses the cards to tell the story in a personal way.

When he doesn’t have any more inspiration, the next player has to continue with his own cards.
