Instructional Objectives

Where we are now… Standard-  Bloom’s Taxonomy Standard  Bloom’s  3 part objective

Where we are going… Standard-  Bloom’s Taxonomy Standard  Bloom’s  3 part objective Standard  Bloom’s  Objective  Plan

Objectives During one lesson According to Mager objectives have three components… –Performance –Conditions –Criteria

Let’s look at 2 nd Grade Science Standard Course of study –1.01- Observe and measure how the quantities and qualities of nutrients, light, and water in the environment affect plant growth. What Revised Bloom’s Levels?

Let’s look at 2 nd Grade Science Standard Course of study –1.01- Observe and measure how the quantities and qualities of nutrients, light, and water in the environment affect plant growth. Bloom’s Taxonomy –3.1: procedure –2.5, 2.6: components –2.7: cause/effect relationships –6.2: could do an experiment

Performance Observable Indicator –How will students demonstrate what they learned? –It needs to be able to graded or evaluated Focus where…? –Do not focus on the activities, focus on the end “What should students learn during the lesson?”

Conditions Circumstances –Either “independently” or “in groups of ---” Only 1 word or a phrase… only!

Write one for practice… Standard Course of study –1.01- Observe and measure how the quantities and qualities of nutrients, light, and water in the environment affect plant growth. What could students do during a lesson that you could evaluate?

In small groups, students will compare plant growth for plants grown in light and plants grown in dark. Students will independently compare plant growth for plants grown in light and plants grown in dark.

Criteria Standard –What is the “standard” of a desired performance –What is the benchmark for all students? Points –Use a rubric and award points for different parts Percentage –8 out of 10 = 80%, for example

Criteria Go back to the performance and conditions that you wrote… Write a criteria

In small groups, students will compare plant growth for plants grown in light and plants grown in dark. Students will earn 8 out of 10 points. Students will independently compare plant growth for plants grown in light and plants grown in dark. Students will earn 9 out of 10 points.

Practice…. 4th grade 6.05: Recognize that money can be used for spending, saving and paying taxes. Performance- Conditions- Criteria-

Let’s Write an Objective 1st grade 4.01: Recognize and describe various religious and secular celebrations

Let’s Write an Objective 2 nd grade 1.03: Solve two-digit addition and subtraction problems
