Northern Highlands Region Wisconsin

 The Geology of Wisconsin  Did you know northern Wisconsin once featured mountains similar to the Alps and the Rocky Mountains?  Did you know that, in Vilas county, more than 15% of the land is covered by lakes?

What natural processes led to the unique geology of northern Wisconsin?

  Purpose: to bridge our study of plate tectonics, rocks & minerals, and soil & groundwater  Task: Research the geologic history of northern Wisconsin and offer an analysis of the natural forces that shaped the region. Analysis should include a description of both the rocks and the soils of the region.  Analysis is due on or before March 22, Investigation
