Learning Objectives By the end of the session you will: 1.Know the importance of a person centred approach when working with individuals with a learning disability 2.Know the main causes of learning disability 3.Understand the importance of effective communication for individuals with a learning disability

What is a Learning Disability A significantly reduced ability to understand new or complex information and to learn new skills; A reduced ability to cope independently; An impairment that started before adulthood, with a lasting effect on development.
