Lesson 7 Harcourt Vocabulary Words

Babble – saying words that cannot be understood The cute baby will babble all night long!

Suspicious- having feelings that you cannot trust someone The guy in the jacket looked very suspicious as he was running away from the crime scene.

Scent- smell The scent of the rose made the little girl smile!

Wanders – to travel without a plan of where you are going The horses were wandering around in the field!

Whined – gave a long, high cry The kids whined all day because they couldn’t go to the playground.

Obey – do what you are told to do The lady did not obey the law and she had to go to court and pay a fine.

Demonstrate – show how something works or how it is done The teacher will demonstrate how to make the geometric shape.

Patrol – watch over or guard Officer Scott patrols our school and keeps us safe.

Accompany – to go someplace with someone Will you accompany me to the park to watch the waterfall?
