Valuiky at a glance Made by Shumskaya O.A.
Valuiky is a small town in the south- east of Belgorod region. It is nice to think that a lot of historical and cultural events are connected with its name. There are no mountains or deep rivers one can see in the places but there are green hills, black-earth fields around it with wheat, rye, corn, sugar-beet, sunflower growing in them.
Valuiky is famous for its cathedrals, churches and a monastery but many of them were destroyed after the October Revolution. And one can see Nickolski cathedral and the monastery now.
A lot of local young men and women were killed during the World War 2. The citizens expressed their pain for their death by constructing the monument to the Sorrowing Mother. Near it there is the Heroes of the Soviet Union Avenue. So people bear their outstanding countrymen as N.F. Vatutin, A.S. Yevtushenko, A.F. Soloviov and others in the mind and honor them.
Valuiky has the Museum of Local Lore and Fine Arts Museum where one can see the works of different artists.
There are the Palace of Culture and Sport, a teaches- training college, a medical school, Art and musical schools. So the local authority pays much attention to the development of the young generation.
Valuiky is rather agricultural town than industrial. So there is high developed food industry based on the local agriculture. As a result, modern Valuiky is as agricultural as industrial town. People of Valuiky remember the past of the town and create the future of their native land.
