MY HOMETOWN
The first mention of Murom can be found in Russian chronicles dated back to the tenth century.
In the middle age period Murom was only a commercial centre.
There is a legend about Ilya Muromets, the son of a peasant, who lived in the village of Karatcharovo not far from the town. He was a warrior and defender of Russia.
Another beautiful legend Is about Peter and Phevronia and their great love. They are considered to be Murom saints and their relic is kept in the Saint – Trinity monastery.
White - stone five domed churches add much to the beauty of the town.
Murom is getting better from year to year. We are proud of our town.
