Unit 7.6 Lesson 4 Goals: Complete the control system (flowchart) to control all elements of the greenhouse. Test and refine the flowchart to improve how it works. Print out work and annotate it to explain what each of the parts of the flowchart controls and anything that could be done differently to improve your work.

What is a sensor? Name as many sensors as you can Can you think of a sensor that could be used when you are controlling the greenhouse?

Making decisions Write your own decision and identify the outcomes connecting them to the decisions with Yes or No arrows.

Parts of the greenhouse

Controlling the greenhouse Controlling the heater Make the heater turn on if the temperature is below 50, turn the heater off if the temperature is above 50. Controlling the sprinkler If the soil is dry the moisture sensor will be on, turn the sprinkler on, and turn the sprinkler off if the sensor is off. Controlling the light Turn the light on if it is dark below 50 and the light off if it is light enough above 50 Controlling the window Open the window if the temperature is above 50, close the window if it is below 50

Things to do Finish 4 flowcharts to control the greenhouse. Screen print flowcharts into Word and write about what they are doing, add name and print out.
