Political Organization of Space Geopolitics

The study of human systems, which are constantly in a state of spatially organizing the land to fit the needs of humans. Includes the distribution of resources, gender roles and ethnicity.

Vocabulary State- an area with boundaries and sovereignty

Nation- a group of people with common cultural characteristics

Nation-state- when a state’s boundaries coincide with the cultural boundaries of a particular group. The Euro-model

Example Iraq: a state, with distinct boundaries but is comprised of 3 nations. Sunni, Shiite and Kurds.
