11/16: Responsibility Notes pages 44L-44R Think allllllllll the way back to week #1 of the semester regarding attitude… Let’s revisit our brainstorm: What makes someone popular in high school? What makes someone a good candidate to be hired for a job? Q: WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

1.Practicing good character traits, like responsibility, NOW, will help you prepare for your future. 2.Responsibility is a character trait that must be practiced! 3.Even if you struggle with some of these traits, you can ALWAYS improve your character.

Think of school like it’s your first “job.” 1.Are you a good employee? 1.Would you get a raise? Or would you be fired by now because of a lack of responsibility…? 1.In what areas do you currently demonstrate responsibility at school? (homework, being on time, completing assignments, etc.) 1.What areas do you struggle with in being a responsible “worker” at school?

Employers are looking for 3 main qualities in their employees: 1.Knowledge: 1.Education & skills necessary for the job 2.Experience: 1.Entry – level: the employer will teach you all you need to know and no prior experience is necessary 2.Required Experience: employees must already have experience in the field before getting hired. 3.Personal Character: 1.Strong character and excellent personal qualities (like responsibility, leadership, social skills…)

So, how can I be responsible? 1.Be on time to school and to class 2.Turn in your work on time and ask for help when you need it 3.Be dependable and honest (don’t break people’s trust) 4.Take responsibility for your actions (even when you mess up…) 5.BE GOOD AND DO GOOD!
