Body Systems

What 2 body systems send messages to the body? Endocrine & Nervous System

What kind of messages does the endocrine system send? Chemical

What is the function of the respiratory system? Supplies Oxygen to the blood and remove CO2 waste from the body

What is an example of an internal stimuli? Throwing up as a result of an upset tummy

What is going to happen to your heart rate after exercise? It is going to increase

What body system is this illustrating? Nervous System

Why would the nervous system be considered the mayor of our body? b/c it is the quickest form of communication to the whole body

What kind of offspring are created in asexual reproduction? Identical – they look EXACTLY the same as the parent

Sexual reproduction creates offspring that are…… A mixture of both parents genes

If you were walking outside in 30 degree weather, what would you do to increase your body temperature? -Add clothes -Begin to shiver

List the organs of the digestive system in order Esophagus  Stomach  Small Intestine  Large Intestine

Where does the lungs deliver oxygen to? The blood

Where does the heart deliver blood to? Throughout the body

What are the 2 types of digestion? Chemical & Physical

What body system is illustrated in the picture below?? Digestive System (chemical/physical)

How are the respiratory and excretory system related? They both remove waste from the body

What are 3 things that might happen if we had no skin? 1.Radiation to the muscles 2.Body can’t cool off after exercise 3.Bacteria will get into the skin

In sexual reproduction, why aren’t offspring exact replicas of their parents? B/c they get a mixture of genes from both parents

What system sends messages the quickest? The nervous system

What is the function of the circulatory system? Transport blood throughout the body

What is the function of the excretory system? Remove excess liquid waste

What is the function of the muscular system? Movement

Hydrogen peroxide breaks down to form water and oxygen gas. When this reaction occurred, the following observations were made: I - The mass of the solution remains the same. II - Phase changes are observed. III - The color of the solution remains clear. IV - The temperature of the solution increases. Which observation is evidence that a chemical change has occurred? Observation IV

What do we need to do to Channing to get him to accelerate? Apply an unbalanced force

Skyler threw the football 17 yards in 37 seconds. At what speed was the football traveling? 0.46 yd/sec.

Brandon used a triple beam balance and determined that the mass of the rock shown was 274g. Use the image below to determine the volume? D=27.4 g/mL

What energy transformations take place when a battery-operated radio is in use? Chemical  Electrical  Sound
