Locating and Opening an Existing Document Step-By-Step With Word on the screen, choose Open from the File menu. The Open dialog appears. 2. Click the down arrow to the right of the Look in box to display the available disk drives. 3.Click the drive that corresponds to the file you saved in the last Step-by-Step and locate Time Plan. 4.Click Open to open the file. 5. Leave the document open for the next Step-by- Step.

Navigating Through a Document Step-By-Step Move the mouse pointer to the end of the first line in the first paragraph. Click once. The insertion point moves to the end of the line. 2. Move the insertion point to the end of the document by pressing Ctrl + End. 3.Move the mouse pointer to the left of the first letter of the first word in the document. 4.Click once to place the insertion point before the first letter. 5. Move to the fourth word in the first line by pressing Ctrl + right arrow four times.

Navigating Through a Document Step-By-Step Click End to move to the end of the sentence. 7.Click down arrow to move to the next line. 8.Click Ctrl + Home to move to the beginning of the document. 9. Leave the document open for the next Step-by- Step.

Previewing Your Document Step-By-Step Click the Print Preview button on the toolbar. 2. Click the text part of the page with the plus sign magnifying glass. The page is enlarged. 3.Click with the minus sign magnifying glass. The page returns to full-page view. 4.Click the View ruler button. The ruler appears (or disappear). 5. Click the Full Screen button. The window is maximized.

6. Click the Close Full Screen button. You are returned to full-page view. 7.Click the down arrow beside the Zoom box. Click 50%.. 8.Click the down arrow again and click 150%. 9.Click the down arrow again and click Whole Page. You are returned to full-page view. 10.Click the Close button on the toolbar to return to Normal view screen.

Viewing Documents MS Word documents can also be viewed in layouts that allow special functions. Web Page Looks much like normal view but is saved in a different format (html file). Outline Looks much like normal view but includes various levels indicating indentions and tabs. ** Documents can be switched back and forth between views depending on the user’s preference.

Printing Your Document Step-By-Step Choose the Print from the File menu. The print dialog appears. 2. Print the document using the default settings by choosing OK. 3.Choose Close from the File menu to close the document. (Choose Yes to save any changes if you are prompted.)

Printing Documents  Before printing a final draft be sure to proofread.  Read over the document again.  Ask a neighbor to proofread.  Use the Spelling/Grammar Check.  After proofreading, resave and print. 
