MACARIO GARCIA MIDDLE SCHOOL FORT BEND I.S.D. BY: KRISTI BURKHALTER EDLD5362-ET8008 LAMAR UNIVERSITY FEBRUARY 2010 Focus on Technology Plan

Why have a technology plan? One simple answer: Our children’s future depends on it. “…integrating technology into instruction tends to move classrooms from teacher-dominated environments to ones that are more student- centered” (Russell and Sorge, 1999).

How are we currently doing? STaR Chart records Produces a profile for GMS to reach goals of the Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology & No Child Left Behind Used to plan for technology budgets and progress

4 Key Areas of Focus Teaching and Learning (TL) Educator Preparation and Development (EP) Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support (L) Infrastructure for Technology (INF)

4 Levels of Progress & Score Ranges Early Tech (6-8 points) Developing Tech (9-14 points) Advanced Tech (15-20 points) Target Tech (21-24)* * our goal for level of progress in all areas by 2020
