PUTT-PUTT BOATS

5E Lesson Donna Roberts Ken Bodley

ENGAGE Watch Video on putt-putt boats and review safety rules for the use of tools. Review with students the guidelines about measuring twice, cut once, and wear gloves and safety goggles.

EXPLORE Students will make their aluminum pocket for the boiler. Make sure it is a reasonable size and that it looks as though there are no cracks or bending problems.

EXPLAIN Students will explain what a boiler is and how it works. Explain the use of a hull on a boat.

EXTEND/EXPAND Students will troubleshoot if there are problems with boats. Students will be allowed to change boiler.

EVALUATE Students will label a boat diagram. Students will be assessed on quality control.
