I have never been to an HVWP seminar before. It was very interesting and fun, and I would come to another one if offered. It was different from my regular coursework because it was more "hands-on." For example, while we wrote our color poem, we actually went through the process of what the children go through in writing. In my regular coursework, I feel like we only learn from the book or power point presentations. The seminar made me feel as if I was part of the community, and learning new ways to teach in an Elementary class. I will keep in mind what I learned from the seminar and use it while teaching children in the future Teacher Candidate HVWP makes distinctive field opportunities to our SUNY candidates Learn to teach writing by writing. Engage with children and parents in enrichment workshops. Participate in professional and collaborative relationships and dialogue. Practice teaching in innovative Hudson Valley settings.
