Review Class 1 we covered series and recirc refining in general. P&ID’s of LD chest into each of the 3 refiner lines (3 p&id’s) Class 2 we covered the Blend Chests – Ticklers – machine chests of each machine (6 p&id’s). We also discussed the design and purpose of blending Class 3 – we have remaining p&id’s to cover: Waste, Rejects, 4 th stage cleaners, consistency dilution tank, HD tower

Waste system Waste P&ID Waste needs refining, but needs separate refining #4 sprout becomes waste refiner (with backup valving as #3pm tickler) Think about your total flows on ticklers without recycle Controls, very similar to every other refiner we have discussed. The exceptions are this is 1 refiner, it has dual purpose as back up tickler, it has to feed 2 different tanks (#1, #3 machine chests), it has back up pump capability. Rejects System Rejects and 4 th Stage Cleaner P&ID No longer have shives, no shives = no need to refine them separately You have concentrated sand. Run cleaners thinner and get more concentrated sand Add 4 th stage cleaner to further concentrate sand and dump the sand out of the system Thin, thin, dump sand, accepts to broke
4 th stage cleaners Show brochure 2 cleaners side by side, valves in and out and bypass Intermittent dump (2 dump valves like a junk trap on bottom) Dumps into a dry hopper outside
Consistency Water Consistency dilution tank P&ID This converts the current washer feed tank (stock storage tank) into a white water tank 2 vfd pumps. Phases of installation Phase 1 = secondaries – #2,#9 refiners in series and recirc and into machine chest – #3,#1 refiners in series and recirc and into machine chest Phase 2 = #3pm machine chest – Ticklers in series and recirc, remove stuffbox, use new tank/agitator, vfd on machine chest pump Phase 3 = #1pm blend chest,machine chest – Ticklers in series and recirc, remove stuffbox, use 2 new tanks/agitators, vfd on machine chest pump, but still sharing #3pm blend chest
Phase 1 #2 and #9 in series is doable. Do it first – Run feed piping to #2 and keep it running – Run piping from 2 to 9 and then connect it one day – Hook #1 sprout back into old line and it can run by itself #3, #1 in series is a little tougher. Do it second – Run feed piping to #3 and keep it running – Run piping from 3 to 1 area and on to machine chest – Tie in #3 by itself – Demo #1 piping and reconnect it Working through these details now. Piping arrives 4/24, they hire pipe fitters/welder 5/1 or so, Lots of activities and scaffolding coming to the wet ends of the machines in about 1-2 weeks. Daily permits, scaffolding to avoid, downtime, tie ins, temporary operation
