1. Why this Workshop? Our Goals: 1.To cultivate a MINDSET the necessity of Christ 2. To equip you with a TOOLSET questions, diagrams, etc.

1. WHY we need to show Christ in all of Scripture Our MINDSET – 3 Key Passages # 1 – John 5:39 Question: “What is the result of reading and teaching Scripture rightly?”

“[39] You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, [40] yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.” (John 5:39-40 ESV )

1. WHY we need to show Christ in all of Scripture Our MINDSET – 3 Key Passages # 1 – John 5:39 - BELIEVE Question: “What is the result of reading and teaching Scripture rightly?” I MPLICATION # 1 – The result of reading rightly is receiving life from Jesus.

1. WHY we need to show Christ in all of Scripture Our MINDSET – 3 Key Passages # 2 – 1 Corinthians 10:1-13 – REPENT Question: “Why does the Scripture record the failures of past people? “

“[1] For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, [2] and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, [3] and all ate the same spiritual food, [4] and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. [5] Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.” (1 Corinthians 10:1-5 ESV)

“[6] Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did… [11] Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. [12] Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. [13] No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. “[11] For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, [12] training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self- controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, [13] waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, [14] who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” (Titus 2:11-14 ESV)

“A passage retains its Christocentric focus and a sermon becomes Christ-centered not because a preacher finds a slick way of wedging a reference to Jesus’ person or work into the message but because the sermon identifies a function that the text legitimately serves in the great drama of the Son’s crusade against the serpent,” Bryan Chapell (Christ-Centered Preaching, 2 nd Edition, p. 301).

“Pointing our children (& ourselves) to Jesus, requires not only pointing out what Jesus commands us to do, but pointing out that He provides the power to do it and the grace to forgive us when we don’t.”
