Outsourced India movie

Todd in airport looking for taxi. Actually, after Todd arrived India at a first time he didn’t know anything, firstly when he went out of the airport, Todd looking for a taxi to pick him to train station. However, he shocked by a lot of people want from Todd to ride their taxis. They are around Todd he can’t stop them, they actually confuse him, moreover they come over and shouting to each other he look over around the area and see one person who have a taxi. In my view the Indian people have a high context because there is no direct eye contact between them and Todd they only talking. On the other hand, they didn’t respect and they are shouting. In the USA people have face to face talking and they try to understand your request or what they want from you exactly. In addition Indian people are Informal they talk with everybody ether they know them or not. In the USA they only talk and feel free with their immediate family or friends. Here the drivers are Focusing on results only every one of them look after Todd and force him to ride his taxi. American people are busy if you want a taxi call to pick one or look around if you need. (Trinder, Intercultural Studies, 8 September 2015)

Todd try to catchup the train. After Todd arrived the train station he look that the train start to move after that somebody came to Todd and start asking Todd if he like India or not, then the train moved faster, so they start to run and the person who is with Todd tell him to jump into the gate of the train actually he helped Todd by caring his luggage and the people in the train catch Todd and they help him to enter the train. I think here is the collectivism which means we find societies come to gather and stay with each other. The Indian people came to gather to help Todd. On the other hand Americans people are Individualism, which means everyone look after him/or herself/ her immediate family, it’s specifically care about small group or the group which they directly deal with them. In USA if you want anything just ask for it. There is a high context feature of the American people, which is Individual responsibility every one responsible about his/herself no one will tell you anything unless you asked about it. Conversation between Todd and Puro about hotel or guest houses. Todd comes down to train station after arriving the city which he will work on it. Firstly, he stands to have some juice and suddenly Puro came to him and he starts to apologize because he sends a car to carry Todd to hotel actually Puro is the future call center manager he is the person who Todd will train him. Their conversation is all about the hotel Puro tell Todd the hotel which you booked is very lonely and I will take you to the guest house which they will take care of you more than a hotel. Here we can see a high context which is Puro represent because they hosting a person in your home overnight. Puro starts to take Todd to house not to hotel. Moreover, it’s a collectivism because Indian people like to stay with each other and helping others as well. And American care more about immediate person or in the other phrase who you know is important and that is a higher context. (Trinder, Intercultural Studies, 8 September 2015)

Todd shocked about the Indian people attitude. Todd arrived the guest house and the women there which her name is Rantiji started to asking Todd a personal questions about his life like why you are not married yet? How much your salary? And so on. However, she tells Todd to eat the seeds he actually started to grab some on his left hand and all of them see Todd and want from him to stop and eat from his right hand, because the left hand you should use it in the toilet. Her we can see the small religious congregations which consist from high context. American people more careful about what they know is important. In addition, Todd learned that to eat by right hand and use another one for the toilet. (Trinder, Intercultural Studies, 8 September 2015)

Todd understands how Indian lifestyle is different than USA Todd always puts his meals for another person after that the other person invite him to his house and give him a simple but lovely meal to thank him about the previous meals which he is giving them. In my opinion, this sense means the Indian people and Todd has a long-term orientation because Todd offers meals for them when they actually want these meals for a family not a one person. This action shows how Todd gets a respect from people and they glad of his action. There is a high context as well from both of Todd and Indian family, we can see the strong sense of respect and honor and people’s emotions taken into account in decision making. Moreover, there is a high context which is strong sense of respect we can see her Todd show his respect to Indian family which they invited him.
