Expository Writing Dr. M. Connor Spring 2008 Welcome to Class!

Dr. Connor I’ve been teaching on-line for Fu Jen for the past six years. I used to teach there in person in the 90s, so it’s a place close to my heart. This is one of my favorite classes to teach on-line as it allows us to interact together quite a bit.

Benefits Lots of interaction with the teacher I’m a native speaker, so this is good for you Work at your own pace during the week. The due dates are weekly, but you can fit the class in when you have time. Karen, the TA, is here to help you live and in person for extra assistance.

Another TA? Depending on the number of students who enroll, we may have another teaching assistant. I don’t know if that will be yet.

Difficulties Some people are nervous with a native speaker teacher! Many of the students have different ability levels, so some assignments might be difficult. This is supposed to be an intermediate class, but I make it on the easier side for students who don’t have much comfort with English.

Classes done ahead of time I prepare materials far ahead of the class time. That means that I can’t make adjustments as quickly as I would in person.

Questions I’m available for questions during my office hours on MSN. Feel free to chat with me to ask questions or just say hello any time you see me on-line. Or you can me. You can also Karen. If she can’t help you, she will help you reach me. Never be afraid to ask!

Welcome again I hope we will have a wonderful semester!
