 Emotion Quote  Intro to Emotion  END GOAL: Is emotion a reliable way of gaining knowledge?

 “Nothing great in the world is achieved without passion.” – Georg Wilhelm Hegel  What are some examples of this in history?

 Usually not seen as a WOK, but as a blockage knowledge  However, feelings are important and we consult them often.  Therefore, IB acknowledges emotion as a WOK

 “You’re being emotional.”  This quote is usually taken as a criticism. Why do you think that?  “You’re being rational.”  Could that ever be a criticism? Why or why not?

 To what extent are you able to control your emotions?  What emotion is the most difficult to control? Explain.

 “What reason weaves, by passion is undone.” –Alexander Pope  What does this quote mean?  What are some examples in history that illustrate this quote?  What are some examples from literature that illustrate this quote?

 What makes an emotion positive? ◦ What are some examples of positive emotions?  What makes an emotion negative? ◦ What are some examples of negative emotions?

 When can a positive emotion be negative?  When can a negative emotion be positive? ◦ Example: Can happiness ever be a bad thing? Can anger ever be a good thing?
