About this Unit This unit will look at the animation process. You will work as part of a team to create something called a “stop motion animation.” Your animation must meet the needs of a scenario. You will be working in pairs and must be responsible for all tasks completed. By the end of the unit, you will have a basic insight into how stop motion animation works.

Your First Task You need to be in groups of 2-3 (maximum 3 so please do not ask for more). Choose your group carefully, as you need to work together to achieve a high level. Within your groups of three you will be given 1 tub of playdough. Your job is to each create an object (a person, monster, etc). You have 10 minutes

Plenary What is Stop Motion animation? What could animation be used for in society? Explain what you have to do to create a simple animation (from start to finish). Why is stop motion animation used instead of computer generated animation?

Homework Draw a rough sketch of a playdough character you could use in your assessment. This can be anything you like from a monster, to a human, to an animal or even an object. If you don’t decide to use it, another group might! Due in NEXT lesson.
