The Bombing of Hiroshima By Collin Mitchell

The Cause: China was overtaken by the Japanese, and then set their sights on the U.S. Pearl Harbor was attacked, which got America to join in the war on Germany and Japan.

Where, When, What Happened: Where: Hiroshima, Japan. When: August 6, What happened: Atomic bombs was dropped from American bomber planes, one being the Enola Gay, on the towns of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which annihilated everything in sight, killing 80,000 instantly in Hiroshima, with a total of 135,000 killed in the bombing overall.

The Effect: The explosion left a city in ruins. Almost nothing was spared. This clip is an excerpt from the 1983 animated movie Barefoot Gen, detailing the effects of the bombing. For those who are squeamish, please look away.
