Team Work Lesson Objective To understand what is important when working as a team

Starter I want you to think of a definition of teamwork Once I have taken the register we will share this and come up with a whole class definition

Definition Team work is about working in a group, communicating verbally and non-verbally towards a common target or aim within a set deadline/time period. It often involves solving a task or problem that will benefit the team as a whole. It involves helping each other and working towards a common consensus that all team members agree on.

Teamwork Each group is going to be given 1 piece of paper and a pair of scissors Your mission is to cut the paper in such a way that it forms a complete circle big enough to go around all of you You have 5 minutes

Teamwork Did any of you manage it? What were the problems you faced? How well did you work together? Line yourselves up in a row in the centre of the room, you will need a little space between you Your mission is to get the hula hoop from one end to the other without letting go of more than 1 pair of hands at a time – listen carefully to my explanation NO SILLY BEHAVIOUR!

What have we learnt What have we learnt about the importance of teamwork What advantages are there to working in a team? What disadvantages are there? You should now complete page 1 of your Unit 16 workbook This page asks you to note down a definition of teamwork (you can use the class definition). You also need to note down around the spider diagram advantages and disadvantages
