Outdoor Recreation Natali Avila Period: 4

also know as expedition racing outdoor activity that consists a lot on your physical endurance and ability to overcome any obstacle or physical activity: Cross-country running, mountain biking, paddling, climbing and rope skills could be very helpful during the challenge to overcome this race could take up to 10 days to accomplish

John Turner was a co-finder of the California Adventure Racing Association. Many still debate on the origin of adventure racing People look at the Karrimor International Mountain Marathon, as the birth of adventure racing This marathon took place in 1968.

Shirts Pants Socks Shoes Jackets Watches Maps First aid Bug spray Compass Equipment Required Sunglasses Backpacks Headlamp Bike Climbing materials cookware Food Water Knives Multi tools

Participation If you would like to participate in an adventure race, there are many locations in which you can. So you can always find the closes location for convenience. The top 5 places where one would go to participate would be: Florida Texas California Pennsylvania Colorado

Safety Equipment For comfort and safety, it is recommended for the racer to wear light gear in order for them to be able to move lighter, faster, and stronger. Proper clothing First aid kit Eye protection Feet protection Bug spray Helmet

There are several risk that one can face while participating in adventure racing but some of the more common ones are: Knee, ankle injuries Ripped or pulled ligaments/ tendons Fracturing a bone

If I would to be able to modify this activity in order to allow young children, the elderlies, and people with special needs I would:  Shorten the races  Less obstacles  No high or long climbs  Little to no biking  Safe and clear paths

 One’s physical health can affect one’s participation in adventure racing in many ways, such as:  Getting tiered quick  Breathing issues  No being able to conquer some of the obstacles  No being able to complete the race
