As I get class started, talk to me, treat me, etc. according to the label you see on me. No matter what I say or do, follow the label instructions … have fun!

 Get into a group of 5 … no more than 5, please!  This only works if you follow the instructions EXACTLY!  Follow the “instructions” on the labels of your group members as you discuss the questions on Classroom Culture.  Don’t look at the labels in any of the other groups!

 What types of things contribute to the classroom environment?  What are the signs that it’s going to be a good day in class?  What are the signs that it’s going to be a bad day?  What should happen more often in classroom to ensure mostly good days?  Why is it important to be aware of the classroom culture?

1. How did you feel being treated according to a label? 2. What other labels are imposed on students? 3. How are labels damaging to students? 4. Are labels ever beneficial? How? 5. What effect does labeling students have on behavior and classroom management? 6. Why is it important to be aware of labeling others?

 Write at least ½ page on the following: Have you ever had a label imposed on you as a student? What was it and how did you deal with it or overcome it?
