Psychogenic By: Pete Wilkins

Abstract of Game Story  Years after a car accident takes the sight of John Doe and kills his wife and two children, he decides to participate in an experiment in order to regain his sight.  The experiment implanted a small probe into his brain which receives signals from a head mounted camera system.

Abstract of Game Story (cont’d)  A series of test electrical signals were being sent to John Doe’s brain when a thunderstorm caused a large power surge.  After coming to from the resulting seizure, John Doe realizes he has gained psychokinetic abilities.

Abstract of Game Story (cont’d)  Soon after the word gets out about John Doe’s newly acquired abilities, the military captures him.  They take John to a secret military installation in order to figure out how the power surge gave him these special abilities.

Abstract of Game Story (cont’d)  John soon realizes that the military will stop at nothing to learn his secret.  John must escape their clutches before they destroy him.

Game Appearance  The game will take place in a heavily guarded military research facility.  It should have the feel of a prison due to the amount of security involved in guarding these types of experiments.  The game camera will be first person in order to put the player in the shoes of John Doe  Since the main character’s vision is achieved by a camera system, there should be some filter that would alter the color and/or sharpness of objects.

Player Roles and Actions  Player role John Doe, a captured man with psychic abilities trying to escape.  Actions John is capable of physically moving objects with his mind. He carries no weapons, but instead is able to pick up and throw people, as well as tear them limb from limb if necessary, with his mind He also has the ability to enter someone's mind for a short period of time, allowing him full control of that individual.

Strategies and Motivations  Your only motivation is to escape with your life  Since the place is heavily guarded, you will be required to make use of your abilities in order to gain access to other areas around the installation.  Mind manipulation of objects as well as people will prove useful when solving puzzles

Level Summary/Story Progression  Given the back story, the player will start off in a lab/holding cell deep within this military facility.  You are to make your way out of the lab area, and out of the experimental wing of the facility.  As you progress through the level, you get more in touch with your abilities and possibly expose an unknown ability in the process.  As you progress, you will also reveal more of the military’s plans for you, which may setup some side story/motivation for John Doe

Development Specification  Hardware 1GHz or faster PIII/Athlon (1.2GHz recommended) 128MB RAM (256MB recommended) 32MB video card (64MB with T&L recommended)  Software DirectX 9.0b UnrealEd Unreal Tournament 2004  Algorithm Style Scripting according to UnrealEd
