What do we do? Work with lab/government on issues of concern to graduate students Educate federal government on physical science issues Organize educational and social events Provide information for students/post docs who are new to the area – : guide to life, archived classes and lectures, job links (thanks to FNAL office of public affairs and xenomedia)
How is this Accomplished? Given a budget each year Other opportunities for funding (URA/lab) Involvement in committees of UEC - ex: Inreach, Outreach, Quality of Life Participate in annual UEC trip to Washington, DC

Quality of Life Survey Results –Health care listing to be provided to housing office/linked to GSA web page, ongoing work with FNAL for better coverage for visiting students and post-docs –Taxi service/pick up service proposal presented to lab –Housing office installing more computers/wireless in dorms
Visa Survey Results Students from foreign institutions usually here on J1 visa Problems in some cases for continuing Post- Docs at non-US institutions who work at FNAL Ongoing collaboration with UEC/FNAL to develop new visa for scientists
New Perspectives 4:30 in WH Atrium: poster contest, UEC reception, prizes awarded for posters Wednesday and 9:30 in 1 West: talks by students and invited guests 7 : party in the barn
