ENGLISH 10 HONORS DAY 9 Objective: To write an essay exemplifying ideas in part 1

CHAPTER QUIZ Take the quiz. Grade it. Questions and comments about these chapters?

Pair up. As a pair, you are going to pick ONE of the following prompts to work with. Many works of literature examine the lives of women in custom-bound societies. In a well-organized essay, explore the roles, restrictions, and resourcefulness of women in Ibo culture, as depicted in Things Fall Apart part 1. Instead of being a mere catalogue of characters and examples, your essay should progress toward conclusions about the significance of the feminine in Ibo society. OR Part 1 of Things Fall Apart focusses on introducing the reader to Ibo traditional society and the reality of life for those who participate in it. In a well-organized essay, explore the values, ceremonies, and roles of the Ibo people. Instead of being a mere catalogue of information, your essay should draw significant conclusion about the culture, using specific examples as support.

Take about 10 minutes to brainstorm and organize your information. You will have the remaining time to write an essay in response to the prompt.  Remember: an essay must have an introduction (with a thesis at the end), conclusion, and address all aspects of the prompt in multiple body paragraphs. If you finish before the end of class, begin reading the next chapters.
