3-2-1 Strategy For Reading Comprehension BY: Christi and Tessa

Goal of the Strategy To have students summarize a passage or a unit of study and focus on the key ideas. Students also have the opportunity to ask any questions they still have about the text or unit.

Ways the Strategy can be Used 1.Check for comprehension after reading a passage. 2.Check for understanding after a unit of study is complete. 3.Helps students organize a difficult passage of reading. 4.End of class feed back.

How it Works For feed back you could pass out a form where students answer: 3- Things they found out 2- Interesting things 1- Questions they still have

How it Works After a unit of study, such as Feudalism and Nation-States: 3- Differences between Feudalism and Nation-States 2- Effects of Feudalism on the economy 1- Question they still have on the topic

How it Works During or after reading, such as Holes, by Louis Sacher Describe 3 ways Stanley’s perception of Camp Green Lake changes in the book. Describe 2 characteristics and their relationship to each other. Provide 1 question about something you, at first, found confusing in the book, and then explain how and where it was resolved in the text.
