Dialect Dialect is a way of speaking that is associated with a specific geographical region or group of people. Authors use dialect to give their writing the feel of a particular place. They also use dialect to show information about the character(s), such as economic or social class.
Dialect A dialect may have its own vocabulary, grammar, and system of pronunciation. Most countries and cultures have one main dialect. In the U.S., it is standard English; although, several regional dialects exist.
Dialect When writers use dialect, it is spelled exactly as it is said or pronounced. Ex: “When ‘yall coming ova?” Marie yelled loudly.
