Desert Excuse me, waiter? Can I get some water over here?

Characteristics Though many people are confused on this subject, being a desert has little to do with the temperature of a place. The largest desert in the world is Antarctica! A desert is a place that has little or no precipitation. What is precipitation? Precipitation is any moisture that comes from the sky, which can include rain, hail, snow, and sleet.

Characteristics In deserts, the temperature during the day and the temperature during the night are really different. Deserts cover about one third of the land on the Earth. The largest cold desert is Antarctica and the largest hot desert is the Sahara. Where is the Sahara located?

Places North America- The Great Basin, The Great Salt Lake Desert, The Mojave Desert South America- The Atacama Desert, The Patagonian Desert, The Tatacoa Desert Africa- The Sahara Desert, The Kalahari Desert, The Nubian Desert Asia- The Gobi Desert, The Indus Valley Desert, The Lop Desert
