Sustainable Community Strategy Telling the story (ies) of the locality ‘Need to be convincing and compelling about what we want to achieve and how’ ‘Use evidence cleverly and credibly to support priorities and areas we wish to leave out’

Key themes for our sustainable community strategy –Economy –Environment –Health –Housing –Community safety –Learning & skills –Transport –Culture and leisure –Access (communications, services & inclusivity) –Community cohesion

Wicked Issues Wicked issues have incomplete, contradictory, and changing requirements; and solutions to them are often difficult to recognize as such because of complex interdependencies. H. J. Rittel and M. M. Webber (1973) Issues whose solution require large groups of individuals to change their mindsets and behaviours are likely to be a wicked issue. Examples: –Deprivation –Alcohol misuse –Site provision for Gypsies –Affordable housing –Transport in a largely rural county
