The First Mesoamerican Civilization. The Olmecs civilization ( B.C.) was the first major Mesoamerican culture and laid the foundation for several later civilizations.

The Incas The Inca Empire or Inca Empire was the largest empire in pre-Columbian America. The administrative, political and military center of the empire was located in Cusco in modern-day Peru. The Incas were polytheists Interestingly, the Incas have even considered their emperors as demigods, people with special connection with the gods.

The Aztecs The Aztec people were certain ethnic groups of central Mexico, particularly those groups who spoke the Nahual language and who dominated large parts of Mesoamerica from the 14th to 16th centuries. Aztec religion is the Mesoamerican religion of the Aztecs. Like other Mesoamerican religions, it had elements of human sacrifice in connection with a large number of religious festivals which were held according to patterns of the Aztec calendar.

The Mayans The Maya is a Mesoamerican civilization, noted for the only known fully developed written language of the pre- Columbian Americas, as well as for its art, architecture, and mathematical and astronomical systems. Mayan religion was characterized by the worship of nature gods (especially the gods of sun, rain and corn), a priestly class, the importance of astronomy and astrology, rituals of human sacrifice, and the building of elaborate pyramidical temples.
