Presentation transcript:

UTILITY KNIFE SAFETY

Always wear safety glasses when using utility knives; blades can snap off unexpectedly. Always use sharp blades. Dull blades require more force to make the cut, which can lead to tool slippage. If the blade is dull, report it to the instructor for a replacement. ALWAYS CUT AWAY FROM THE BODY AND OTHER PEOPLE!!

UTILITY KNIFE SAFETY Before cutting, make sure blades are seated properly in the knife. If possible, retract the blade or put a cap on it before sitting it on a table. Never leave a utility knife unattended, especially with the blade exposed.

UTILITY KNIFE SAFETY Be aware of the thickness of the materials you are cutting. Thin materials will require less pressure and fewer cuts. Use a “T-square” to help make straight cuts. Be sure to place a piece of plywood between the cardboard and table.

UTILITY KNIFE SAFETY Follow all safety rules!!
