The first recorded sighting took place when Samuel de Champlain came upon the lake in July During this expedition, the French explorer noted “a 20-foot serpent, with a horse-shaped head and body as thick as a keg.” Since then, sightings of the strange aquatic beast have been reported by over 600 people, many documented in Joseph Zarzynski’s definitive book Champ–Beyond the Legend written in 1984.
Chupacabras.. THE LEGEND OF EL CHUPACABRA: The legend of "El Chupacabra" began when goats and chickens started turning up dead in Puerto Rico in the 1990's, drained of blood and with telltale puncture wounds in their necks but otherwise completely intact. Literally translated as "goat sucker" in Spanish, reports of Chupacabra spread from Puerto Rico to Mexico, Chile, Brazil and into the United States, from Texas to Florida, Michigan, Maine and even Oregon. Soon Chupacabra became a worldwide urban legend as news spread far and fast on a wave of Internet enthusiasm, taking hold of imaginations worldwide.

HONEY ISLAND SWAMP MONSTER Honey Island Swamp, a vast swamp land area in southern Louisiana is considered by many naturalists to be one of the most pristine swampland habitats in the United States. JERSEY DEVIL Most skeptics and students of the outré know the story of the Jersey Devil. Sometime in the early part of the eighteenth century in the New Jersey forest called the Pine Barrens, a woman known as Mother Leeds gave birth to her thirteenth child and cried out, “Oh, let this one be a devil!” The “child” arrived with horse-like head and bat-like wings. It yelped menacingly and flew up and out of the chimney, disappearing into the dark to spend the centuries accosting anyone unfortunate enough to encounter it. The commonly held story of the Jersey Devil bears no resemblance to any sort of reality, however. The story is one born not of a blaspheming mother, but of colonial era political intrigues, Quaker religious in- fighting, almanac publishing, a cross-dressing royal governor, family reputations, and Benjamin Franklin.
KONGAMATO Deep in the bush of east central Africa, lives a beaked, flying creature called the Kongamato. This fascinating animal first received widespread attention when explorer Frank Welland described it in his 1932 book In Witchbound Africa. The Kongamato (“overwhelmer of boats”), is described as a large, reddish creature with leathery wings, devoid of feathers. Eyewitnesses who are shown an illustration of the pterodactyl unanimously agreed to this identification of the Kongamato.

mngwa Mngwa (the strange one) or Nunda is a gigantic, ferocious, dark gray or black nocturnal feline, said to stalk the East African country of Tanzania. Described as, "the size of a donkey," English contact with this animal first began in the 1900s. In 1938, an open- minded discussion of this animal appeared in the then-world-famous British scientific journal Discovery. William Hichens, a British administrator working in Tanzania reported that several natives were attacked by this animal. He thought it to be a giant, man-eating lion that was responsible, but both fur- samples and tracks were different from those of a lionnocturnalfelineEast AfricanTanzaniadonkeyEnglishBritish William Hichenslion
Mokele-mbembe Mokele-mbembe supposedly resembles an apatosaurus, which lived more than 65 million years ago. ogopogo The legend of Ogopogo tells us that he has been seen by Lake Okanagan area residents and visitors alike in British Columbia, Canada, for hundreds of years. In more modern times, several photos have been taken of an unexplainable phenomenon on very calm days when there was not a ripple to be seen. The Ogopogo phenomenon is just full of surprises! While filming a documentary based on Bill Steciuk's first sighting of Ogopogo, the film crew was amazed to find an "extra" wanting to participate in the filming....yes, none other than the famed "lake monster" itself.....

thunderbird Thunderbird is a term used in cryptozoology to describe large, bird-like creatures, generally identified with the Thunderbird of Native American tradition. Similar cryptids reported in the Old World are often called Rocs. Thunderbirds are regarded by a small number of researchers as having lizard features like the extinct pterosaurs such as Pteranodon. Reports of Thunderbird sightings go back centuries, [1] and the fossil record does show that giant birds (teratorns) with wingspans between 12 and 18 ft (3.7 and 5.5 m) were likely contemporary with early man. Today the creature is generally regarded as a myth.cryptozoologyThunderbirdNative AmericancryptidsOld WorldRocspterosaurs Pteranodon [1]fossil recordteratorns

sasquatch Sasquatch, colloquially known as Bigfoot, is a legendary creature, a primate-like animal believed to inhabit the forests of North America, although people claim to have sighted the creature in every part of the United States and most of Canada. Akin to the infamous Yeti of the Himalayan Mountains, Sasquatch lore dates back to the earliest Native American tribes, and continued as regional phenomenon until the twentieth century, when the need to prove or debunk the existence of Bigfoot became a widespread fervor. Today, while most people are aware of Bigfoot stories but dismiss the creature as a mere footnote among such paranormal subjects as the Loch Ness Monster and UFOs, there are those trying to use science to prove Bigfoot is a real hominid living in America. Nevertheless, most scientists discredit the idea.legendary creatureprimateUnited StatesCanadaYeti Himalayan MountainsNative Americanparanormal Loch Ness MonsterUFOshominid
