2 Payload Processes Overview Payload Operations & Integration Function Training Team Payload Training contact –Team LeadLynn Baker(256) –NASA POCAlan Johnston(256) –PTP ChairTim Horvath(256) Payload Crew Training Team Roles and Responsibilities –During Preparation Phase Plan, develop, and execute ISS crew training, as defined in the NASA Payload Training Implementation Plan (PTIP), with the Payload Developer as an active team member. Conduct the Training Strategy Team (TST) process to define training requirements, trainer hardware/software requirements, and a training schedule. Populate the Training Data Set, if requested by the Payload Developer, and baseline through the NPOCB. Review the Training Development Specification, developed by the Payload Developer, to ensure the trainer hardware/software satisfies the training requirements. Verify the Payload Developer trainer satisfies the requirements defined by the TST utilizing test procedures developed by the Payload Training Team. Provide the Crew Training Instructor, courseware, and lesson plans, if requested by the Payload Developer. Certify the Payload Developer instructor/ and courseware through the execution of a Payload Training Dry Run (PTDR). Schedule and execute crew training. Conduct training logistics, trainer setup, and trainer configuration management. 6 Objectives To introduce the PD to the TST Process, payload training concepts, payload training documentation, and payload training/crew operations processes. To start the PD working on their curriculum and PDL Training Data Set. To define the plan for training the science team.

7 TST Roles, Responsibilities, and Products Official Membership of TST: –FD35 Triad Personnel Simulation Engineer (SE) – TST Chair Procedures Representative Displays Representative –PD Representatives –Crew Office Representatives TST Roles: –To aid in the development of payload training requirements for crew –To define a complete payload training/crew operations strategy for each payload TST Responsibilities: –Phase 1 : Determine crew training curriculum development, training tools development, and training readiness planning for the payload –Phase 2: Determine any requirements for Complement Training

8 TST Roles, Responsibilities, and Products Phase I TST Products: –Training Assessment Form –Level 5 Schedule Inputs –OBT Decision –PDL Training Data Set –Payload Lesson Change Request (PLCR) –Results of the Usability Verification Assessment Other Training Products: (items developed prior to crew training, but not required for TST closure) –Trainer Development Specification (PD) –Lesson Plans (PL Instructor) –Courseware (PL Instructor) –PL Simulator Test Procedures (SE)

9 Payload Training Documentation Payload Training Implementation Plan (PTIP) –SSP (currently Rev. C, June 2003) –The PTIP details payload training requirements and processes for U.S. PDs. Generic Payload Simulator Requirements Document (PSRD), Vol. 1 –SSP (currently Issue B, June 2001) –The PSRD, Vol. 1, provides the requirements for a Payload Training Unit (PTU) and includes specific functional and interface requirements for the hardware and software mockups that comprise the PTU.
