BIRTH  Juan Ponce de Leon was born in Spain in Juan loved exploring and sailing.

SAILOR  Juan later heard of gold on a neighboring island called Borinquen (Now known as Puerto Rico). He conquered the island claiming it for Spain. He then became governor of that island, but he was brutal to the Native Americans and was taken out of office in 1511.

EXPLORER  Juan lead a European expedition to discover the mythical Fountain of Youth. Instead he found the southeast coast of what is now Florida, United States. He gave Florida its name and went on to become the first governor of Spain.

DEATH  Juan Ponce de Leon died in July of (He was the age of 47.) He died in Cuba.
