Chapter One (this goes in notes) Scientific Methods and Engineering Design Process

Science We must have a routine in order to avoid mistakes, identify when mistakes happen and analyze our results. Scientific Method-Question, Research, Hypothesis, experiment, gather your data,/results draw a conclusion, repeat, publish CONCLUSION-Was your hypothesis correct?

Intended Benefits vs. Unintended Consequences I.B-is what the inventor/engineer wanted the product to do UC- can be a positive or negative side effect that the invention was not intended for; this is NOT mechanical error or human error

Controlled Experiment An experiment in which only ONE variable is changed (independent) and the result is the dependent variable (what you are measuring). A control is for comparison.
