Parametric and Adaptive Design Parametric Design The linking of dimensions to geometry.

Parametric parts are created with a basic shape. Dimensions and constraints are added later to totally define the size and shape of the part. Parametric and Adaptive Design

Dimensions will resize geometry when you change the dimension value. Parametric Sketch

Parametric and Adaptive Design Parametric Features Dimensions will resize a feature when changed.

Parametric and Adaptive Design In feature based parametric design, as you build your model, each feature can be edited independently. Features based on other features will be effected only when their base feature is changed.

Parametric and Adaptive Design Adaptive Design The ability of a part to change its size and shape to fit the design.

Parametric and Adaptive Design Adaptive parts are created with a basic shape. Dimensions and constraints needed to totally define the size and shape of the part are obtained from the other parts around it.

A connecting rod is being designed in the adaptive mode. No dimensions are applied in the design. When the two posts are moved farther apart, the rod stretches to match. Parametric and Adaptive Design
