Q. Are school trips compulsory? In 2010, the Department for Children, Schools and Families called for educational visits to become part of the National Curriculum, but there’s currently no obligation for schools to offer trips or for your child

Q. What if I can’t afford it? Schools are allowed to charge for board and lodgings for residential trips. We request a contribution towards the cost of the school day activities. Opportunity to pay amount off in installments. Don’t stop your child going if its beyond your means. Write or come in and speak to us.

Q. Will my child be safe? Schools have safeguarding as their highest priority, and conduct rigorous risk assessments for every activity All residential centres are strictly audited and inspected In addition all sites have had a pre-visit and a senior member of staff accompanies pupils Staff are trained

Q. Will my child be homesick? Many children have moments of homesickness, we provide support for them and talk about it. It’s rare that a child is inconsolable, though, but if it happens, we’ll phone the parents and put a plan in place. Don’t pop little notes in your child’s suitcase. Chances are, though, that your child will surprise you.

Q. What if you fall apart? It’s natural to miss your child and worry about how she’s coping, but try to put on a brave face until the coach has left. We will have a secure twitter account where you can follow our antics! In cases of emergencies contact the senior member of staff still in school.

Q. What about medicines? We administer all medicine to your children. Q. What about pocket money? We allow children to take a small amount of money but the money is used to buy gifts for the family at home. They can buy a treat for themselves if they have money over.
