What is this? Using the paint brush tool to make a selection in gimp

When do I do this? To paint a selection instead of just tracing its outline.

How do you do this? Upload your image into gimp

Make a selection around the object

Select the quick mask button: Hold down the shift key and press “q”.

Color the desired area

Deselect the unwanted area to retain the desired area Do this by pressing the control key and dragging over the unwanted area
