Proper Keyboarding Technique Andrea

Names The one on top is called the top row. The one in the middle is called the home row. The one on the bottom is called the bottom row. Plus there is also the number row.

Positioning Fingers You put your fingers on the Home row. They always come back to the home row. Each time your fingers come back to the key it was on.

Position Sit up straight in your chair. Keep your feet flat on the floor. Keep your fingers on the keys. Keep your eyes on the screen.

Where to put fingers

Keys Backspace: You use backspace to erase some letters you don’t want. Enter: To either go to a next page or to start a another paragraph. Shift: To capitalize or to use another symbol. Cap lock: also to capitalize letters.

How to put your Hands Your hands should be on the keyboard at all times. They shouldn’t be sideways. Keep them off the tables.

Where to look You always want to face the screen. You will soon learn how to type without looking.
