Welcome Lone Star College System Pathway Connection → Entry → Progress → Completion Completion by Design

What is CBD? Five year community college reform effort aimed to help more low- income young adults complete more quickly and with greater rates of success

LSCS #1 Goal Increase Completion and Achievement of All Students 1.1Strengthen all academic and student support services. 1.2Focus on discipline-specific advising opportunities. 1.3Develop a method to track student goals and completion. 1.4Strengthen clarity of degree program course requirements.

Supporting Student Success: PREVENTING LOSS, CREATING MOMENTUM a system designed for student completion

The Student Groups Group 1: FTIC who place into 2 or more Developmental Education courses (i.e., EDUC 1300) Group 2: Concentrators in Business Group 3: Currently enrolled with 30+ credits

Definitions –Loss Point: High risk moments or junctures at which most students are likely to drop out or give up. These moments are concentrated early in the college experience—some even before they reach their first class—and occur less frequently as students build academic momentum and the confidence required to persist. –Momentum Point: Moments or junctures throughout the student experience that are likely to increase student success. Completion by Design aims to mitigate the loss points and fortify the momentum points for students. –Completion: defined as an associate’s degree, a successful transfer or a credential with labor market value. –Low income: Pell eligible –Gateway Courses: typically defined as college algebra and freshman composition courses, or the transition courses after developmental education. –30+ Hours: FTIC students that are currently enrolled with 30+ hours from Lone Star College but no certificate or degree. –EDUC 1300: Students who have placed into 2 or more Developmental Education courses. –Business Concentrators: Students who have completed 9 or more hours in a Business related field, to include courses from the AAS in accounting, AAS in business and management, as well as business classes in the AA and AS business field of study.

Where will this information be used? CBD Working Team will utilize the critical feedback that comes from the engagement workshops as work continues in developing a pathway that addresses all 3 targeted student groups. The CBD Share Point Site will have all engagement workshop outcomes posted for review of all Lone Star faculty, administrators, and staff.
