Presentation transcript:

Questions from last time Moving to the Next Level: A Scoping Study · Finding literature are they by key word searches or by word of mouth – both ways keyword searches and recommended papers · Where are you finding the literature – journal articles principally and web resources Databases - Emerald, Business Source Premier (EBSCO host), Proquest, Google scholar Websites - Dti, AIM, Institute of development studies and the Institute for manufacturing Conference papers – SMESME and Euroma 2005

Questions from last time (cont) · In what way are you finding out if they are moving up the chain – local knowledge of companies required to identify companies moving up the value chain · Deadlines are very tight, as they are the end of January 2006 – Agreed! Extended time on literature review with 1 st draft completed end of March 2006

Big Questions 1) In the case studies how would we separate out the effect of moving up the value chain from other variables? 2) Is value add the best measure to use at the firm level for this study? 3) What would a good scoping study achieve?
