The Native Americans were the people who were already living in America. The Native Americans had lived in America for thousands of years.

The Pilgrims were some of the first people to move to America from Europe. The Pilgrims came to America in the year 1620… about 400 years ago.

The Pilgrims came from England.

They left because the king of England would not let them choose their church.

They sailed in a boat from England to America.

The Pilgrims landed at a place called Plymouth Rock, in Massachusetts.

The Pilgrims built homes in Plymouth. Soon they had built a town.

Winter came, and the Pilgrims did not have enough food. Many people died.

The Wampanoags were the Native Americans who lived near Plymouth.

In the spring, the Wampanoags helped the Pilgrims to plant food. The Wampanoags also showed the Pilgrims how to catch wild birds and animals for food.

In the fall, the plants they had planted together were ready to harvest and eat.

To celebrate, the Wampanoag and the Pilgrims had a great feast.

This feast became known as the first Thanksgiving.
