Applying Borders and Shading Adding Bullets and Numbering

Applying borders and shading can add interest and emphasis to various parts of your document. You can add borders to a page, text, table, object and picture. A border is not always a box.

In the format menu, click Borders and Shading. When the Borders and Shading Dialog Box appears, adjust the setting, then click OK. Click the Border Button in the Formatting Toolbar. The Border Button applies the Border the Border Style currently on the Button Face. You can change the Border Style by clicking the Border Button Drop down Arrow, then select border from the pop-up menu.

Border around a paragraph may be changed to suit your preference. You may, for example, remove the borders at the left and right side is you wish. Follow these steps: 1.In the format menu, click Borders and Shading, then click the Borders Tab. 2.Select a Border Style. If you want to add border to selected edge of a paragraph, click Custom, then click the desired edge buttons. 3.Select a Line Style in the Style List Box.( if needed.)

4.Specify the color and the width using the Color and Width Drop-down Menu List( if needed.) 5.Make sure that Paragraph is selected in the Apply to Textbox. 6.Click the Options Button, if you want to adjust the distance between the text and the border line/s. Click OK to close the Border and Shading Option Dialog Box. 7.Click the Horizontal Line Button to select and add lines and borders to the document. 8.Click OK to close the Border and Shading Option Dialog Box.

Shading can add interest to your document by filling the text background with a color of your choice. Follow the steps: 1.On the Format Menu. Click Borders and Shading tab. 2.Select a color from the Shading Color Pallete. 3.Select a pattern from Style Drop-down List.Select a color from the Color Drop- down List. 4.Click OK to close the Border and Shading Option Dialog Box.
