Chapter 2: “Writing about Fiction From Reading to Writing (The Compact Bedford Introduction to Literature) What questions should one ask in responding to fiction?

Chapter 2: “Writing about Fiction From Reading to Writing (The Compact Bedford Introduction to Literature) Begin the writing process as you would an initial discussion of the text – record a first response.

Chapter 2: “Writing about Fiction From Reading to Writing (The Compact Bedford Introduction to Literature) Follow the first response with a brainstorming exercise (like the parallel list of each author’s treatment of marriage on page 51 in the Bedford textbook, or a Venn diagram for a comparison/contrast paper.)

Chapter 2: “Writing about Fiction From Reading to Writing (The Compact Bedford Introduction to Literature) Next, write a preliminary (initial) draft of the paper. Finally, revise a first, second, third…as many times as is necessary…making annotations on the drafts as you revise. (Enlist someone to review your essay.) Lastly, write a final draft.
